1 Aggregometer

2 ELISA (commercial) ELISA (in house) Diagnostic tool Investment in 6 markers, 2 semi-automatic robots available. Clinical Chemistry and Haematology. Very sensitive method. In house ELISA is less expensive than kit.
3 Immuno Electron microscopy Both TEM and SEM for cell and vessel imaging. Cell Biology UMCU Immuno EM also provides information about protein localization besides morphology.
4 Perfusion model &Interference reflection contrast microscopy Cell imaging, e.g. study platelet binding using a flow system. Collaboration.
5 Proteomics To analyze platelets reactivity upon external stimuli, find biomarkers European cooperation
6 SNP analysis Detect effect of single nucleotide polymorphism on gene product. Collaboration Immunology UMCU
7 Time lapse / video microscopy Cell imaging, e.g. formation of platelets in the bone marrow. Clinical Chemistry and Haematology.
8 X-ray crystallography To study protein structure and interaction sites. Cooperation P. Gros – Crystal and structural Chemistry. Not always possible to obtain (good) crystals or of the complete protein. Also time consuming.
